Student Leadership Council Honors Kari Logan with Student Advocate Award

PENDLETON --- Kari Logan, student engagement coordinator for the Student Affairs Division, received the Student Advocate award in recognition and appreciation of her outstanding vision, commitment to excellence, and dedication to student success.

Each year the award is presented by the Student Leadership Council (SLC) at spring convocation.

Logan joined TCTC in 2021, beginning in the Learning Commons before transitioning to the Student Support and Engagement team in 2022. In her role, she leads and supports TCTC’s co-curricular and extra-curricular events and activities, including student clubs and organizations.

Travis Durham, director of Student Engagement and Accountability, said Logan has consistently exemplified the TCTC vision through her meaningful interactions with students, faculty, and staff.

“Kari has a genuine heart for people and routinely goes above and beyond to support others in reaching their goals. Students deeply trust and confide in Kari because they know she truly cares about them — not just as students, but as individuals striving for success in life,” said Durham.

He said one powerful example of Logan’s dedication came in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which devastated several communities, including the Western North Carolina community. “When several students expressed a desire to help the WNC community, Kari immediately set aside her own tasks to empower them to bring their vision to life. Thanks to her support, the students were able to provide meaningful assistance to the WNC community and earned third place in the Student Community Involvement Project competition, sponsored by the South Carolina Technical Education Association,” he said.

“This is just one of many examples of Kari’s unwavering commitment to students and the broader community. She is truly deserving of the Student Advocate award, and we are incredibly proud of her dedication and accomplishments,” he said.

In his nomination, Brian Page, communications officer for SLC and president of the TCTC Student Veterans Association, highlighted Logan’s passionate dedication to students and their success. “Kari is a person who doesn’t just lead – she inspires. She is a person whose presence turns confusion into clarity, fear into courage, and effort into achievement. This kind of leader doesn’t just reach the top – they bring others with them. You’ve shown us all that leadership is not about having power over people but having a heart for them.”
